RASGULLAS

These white coloured balls are one of most favourite sweet dishes in India. It is a very famous Bengali sweet but it is believed to be originated from Orissa. In Orissa, it is known as "khira Mohana". It was invented by local confectioner of Kolkata named Nobin Das. Rasgullas are mainly made of paneer or Indian cottage cheese, milk or full cream milk, sugar, water and flour. The balls made of rasgulla are then cooked into boiling sugar syrup. It is the first syrupy Indian cheese desert. It is a custom in Orissa that these sweets are traditionally offered to Goddess Lakshmi.
